Lesson Plans

Week of November 17th, 2008

Monday-Friday: 48-minute classes.

Objectives:
1) Analyze the objectives of conservatives, liberals, and radicals.
2) Examine how Latin American and European nations won their independence.
3) Compare the struggles between South American and South African independence movements.
4) Define NATIONALISM.
5) Recognize different artistic movements such as ROMANTICISM, IMPRESSIONISM, and REALISM.

Essential Question:
The time period 1500-1815+ was a turning point in world history. What new ideas and accompanying major political, social, and economic changes were characteristic of this revolutionary era?
Departmental Focus Questions:
1) How did Haiti win independence?
2) How did revolutionary leaders help the people of Middle and South America win independence?

Monday:
1) Warm Up: Unit 1 Project Handout.
2) Video: Struggles for Democracy.
3) The Last Word: Work on Worksheets.
Homework:
1) Chapter 24 Packet (due Wednesday).

Tuesday:
1) Focus Question: What was one similarity between South American and South African independence movements?
2) Finish Video Worksheets.
